Lancaster Pride is honored to announce the winners of the inaugural “Lancaster Pride Community Awards”.
The Lancaster Pride Community Awards are intended to celebrate the impassioned and impactful contributions made by our community members. Both The Ashton Clatterbuck Award, for individuals under 25, and The Jim Ruth and Ron Blaize Memorial Award, for those over 25, were open for nominations in late September closing in early October. The Lancaster Pride Board sorted through many inspirational nominations and has diligently chosen this year's winners.
The Ashton Clatterbuck Award winner is Wren Kulfan (She/Her)! At only 16 years old, Wren has made a name for herself not only amongst the LGBTQIA+ youth population but to the community as a whole. It’s difficult to imagine having to step up as a voice for the community at such a young age but Wren has embraced the challenge. Wren has organized events, volunteered her time, and helped amplify the voices of others in need. Wren has even advocated all the way to the state level, pushing for legislation that would make schools safer for trans youth.
The Jim Ruth and Ron Blaize Memorial Award has not one, but two winners, Theo Brown (They/Them) and Evan Farbo (They/She)! Theo’s impact on the community has a very special connection; aiding in mental health and providing support outlets for survivors and victims of sexual assault and abuse, as well as providing education for ending interpersonal violence.
Evan has not only volunteered many hours of their time at vigils, rallies, and community events; she has created a safe space for queer and trans community members. This space has been operating unapologetically for over a year now and shows no signs of stopping. Evan has also unselfishly used their resources to generate donations and host fundraisers for the LGBTQIA+ community.
We are thrilled to invite all award recipients to the ExtraGive event on November 22nd at the Elks Lodge in Downtown Lancaster to celebrate their honor. The event starts at 6:00 PM and is free to attend. Along with award presentations, there will be live music, food, various entertainers, and chances to donate to Lancaster Pride. We encourage everyone to come out and join in the festivities!
